Java app project

Hi there. So today I got a project assigned to make a fully functional app. I'm at collage and in this course we use JDK, and everybody got a project assigned to make an app. All info you get is like one sentance. And I've got: make an app for a community association. I think it refers to an app in which you could make an association like for instance a neighbourhood association and so on... So the first step in order to do this project is to have an interview with our mentor about the app, the mentor plays the role of the customer. And we have a time frame of 3-4 days to come up with questions for the app such as do you need the app to be capable of... And I'd appreciate any tips on how to ask good questions which will help me make a good app. Keep in mind that in the project there will be used data bases, gui, Internet connections and so on. But keep in mind as well that this is a school project and that it doesn't need to be over the top. I know that I'm not being very precise but that's all I've got.

If you want to seem professional follow industry standards for bigger projects and create a PRD (product requirements document) with your mentor. If you‘ve never done that there are many articles to help you with it. Like this one from Atlassian: https://www.atlassian.com/agile/product-management/requirements Edit: And even if you don‘t want to create a PRD it might help you get an idea of what questions to ask.
