Java is a great first language to learn in my opinion. It's relatively easy compared to other languages like C++, and Java is one of the most popular/in demand languages today. The Java platform is on nearly everything, so there is plenty of use in mastering Java. Thankfully, there is plenty of resources on Java, including people that can help out. You'll do just fine learning it first. Wish you the best on your learning journey.

For me it was English. I'm only joking. If you're asking if you should learn another language prior to learning Java, that isn't necessary. If you're asking if there was ever another programming language prior to Java, there has been many programming languages. If I recall, I think C++ was created in the lates 60s, maybe early 70s; just as an example.
