Div??

Question

i remember seeing div in one of the lessons. is it neccesary or does it replace the article in Html5.what happens if you dont have it?

firstly div was used as a container for different elements.. like for defining header, navigation, footer, blog posts or any kind of section.. we were using div tag to seperate each part in a different container.. but now we have seperate tags for each in html5 as header, nav,footer,article, section etc.. these tags helps the search engines to frame the content of your site for better search results..
but u can still use div for the same purpose.. since it has not yet been deprecated..
