It sounds like "What hobby should I prefer?" or "What kind of drink should I prefer?". Just try few languages and then you'll know what you prefer.

Out of the languages taught here, any will do but I chose: HTML+CSS+Javascript Python Java C++ Each of these has its uses. A good and experienced programmer will adapt to any language required by his job in a short term time. The list above is ordered from the easiest to the hardest (in my opinion). I skipped Ruby that is roughly equivalent to python because there are less jobs that require Ruby compared with python. For the same argument I dropped C# that is equivalent to Java because you will rarely find C# on Linux which is what most internet servers run.

Python is a scripting language. It's performance is way slower than Java. It can do many things, but it can't replace Java.
