How often is the front-end & back-end developer the same person?

Is it common that a single developer handles the entire project ?

no. not for large commercial projects. Freelance yeah. working for company. no.

It is call full stack developer. If you know both font and backend development. I am also my self. But yes, for large scale it is not often because you have to take a way font end or backend Both are huge and need different skill. One cannot guru in both.

I've done freelance and company. with startup, they're likely to be the same person. only one company I worked for has dedicated designers
