Ethernet cable can delivers viruses?

I wanna ask something about ethernet cable. Can ethernet cable delivers viruses from modem/router to pc?

Ethernet cable by itself can't carry a virus or malicious code. But for connecting to USB, you would have to get an adapter, which in theory can (there's some chips inside which make adapter from Ethernet to USB port).

Matiyas Sirak so as long as im just using the lan/ethernet instead of wifi, then there's no virus?

Any thing which can deliver you internet can also deliver virus I.e(doesnot choose, wifi, 3g, ... ethernet )but the virus can be only delivered when you are unsecured I.e (download unauthincated app, using unsecured web or anything which is dangerous )
