Is jQuery dead?

I'm doing the jQuery course and I will most likely use it with my hobby app project I'm building. However, I asked myself if Reactjs may be a better option.

jQuery is far from dead. It's a niche solution that has been outgrown by the needs of Google and Facebook, for example, but still has a solid place in the internet ecosystem.

As its popularity with larger scale projects wanes, so too will its overall usage. As for going totally unused, I highly doubt it (for at least a couple more decades).
