Do you think it is important for programming to be part of the school's curriculum in today's society?

well, yeah... I want to put it as a basic course! In my country, there is not a course of IT at all. But in most of the country, they teach at school. I think since from young, we need to learn a bit so that we won't be late when compared to international students around the world!

Well, being completely honest, I don't think it should be mandatory anywhere, but I do believe it should be added as voluentary class because there's really much demand for it though. I have to question the logic that it's going to be needed in multiple professions in the future, because the industry for creating GUI's has become really large. There's always going to be the rare kind, who take care of the backend for everybody else. Although in ideal world everybody should know know to code but realistically it doesn't really make that much sense, to invest directly in to something like that to be mandatory.

As a IT field student I strongly believe that it should be mandatory in schooling level. Not too hard things, just couple of basic things. This is so Because programming not only is the demand of today or it teaches computers, it develops our mind. It helps us to think and evaluate things. It strengthens our brain. This will help us to solve critical problems also.

As a school student I am studying it... Now, it is the era of computers... Each and every things are changing as a task of computer.. I think adding programming as a school subject it will help a big volume of people to know the idea of softwares.. Eventhough they cant become a programmer they can realise its logic

According to me, programming must be a part of the school syllabus because students can get an idea from a primary age and they can choose this as a career option. Also if the students start learning at an early stage it is going to be beneficial for them as it will develop their logical thinking. And as there is no age limitations for creativity, they are surely gonna explore more while learning all this!!

Well it can be made as an optional course. Those who want to learn will get benefited and those who don't will not get forced. However I think the basic course can be made mandatory.Even Steve Jobs said,"Everybody in the society should learn coding.Because it teaches you how to think."So that's my opinion.

yes and no yesss, but most of those people will not become programmers or use Java or Python or whatever language used to teach them, ever again. Teach them VBA! Has the same concepts and as most of them will be working in some kind of office, they will actually benefit hugely from the ability to automate some office stuff.

Yes ,it should be there in the curriculum. Atleast for those students who are serious about their career in IT sector. Languages such as html, js, css and python can be taught along with other subjects. If not advanced ,then atleast the basic knowledge about them must be given.

Yeah, it has grown to be one of the basic skills expected out of any graduate in a world that is driven more and more on technology. More than the actual value of the programming language one knows, programming/ coding instills the value of scientific approach to problem solving in people; and that is priceless.

Well, it can be a college course for those who are interested. People might have other interests but others really love coding so it deserves to be in the school system but it should be optional.

We're moving toward natural language programming, so I would fear that teaching kids a specific programming language or discipline would be a waste of time. However, teaching kids the basic concepts of programming (logic, deconstruction, abstraction) is 100% critical for developing a strong future labor pool.

It's important to teach programing for many reasons, not just to create programers. It teaches you how to approach problem solving by breaking the problem down into manageable chunks, and ordering them appropriately. This type of approach can be used from the board room (strategy creation) to the novelist (planning the storyline).

well, I think that's better to teach it to someone who really likes it and wants to study programming in the university. I mean, that must be like a kind of volunteery class. that's something happening in my school and I really enjoy it.

Yes, if not for job (most likely there will be more and more positions that will require at least minimal understanding of coding), then for the general education. In my country it's already part of curriculum (last time I checked, it was Python basics).

Yes.It will be much helpful for the students who want to study Computer science in future. They will be well versed with coding and programming in advance which will help them a lot.
