In real life getting certified from a university would create a better "impression" for a job. Also, you can get certified doing some tests like the Microsoft Certified Specialist, Exam 40-70 (for HTML, CSS and JavaScript) or CIW Certification that will expand your curriculum. It's very complex to see results in less time but if you can demonstrate to the enterprise that you're unique, maybe they could give you the opportunity of get a nice place there. Good luck doing what you love! EDIT: here's a link to see how competitive programming helps you for real life/to get hired for a job: https://www.quora.com/How-has-competitive-programming-helped-you-get-a-job And another good link to see some certifications: https://www.pluralsight.com/blog/software-development/best-developer-certifications
