Why challenges have a timer

I'm a beginner and I wonder why online challenges have timers. It doesn't allow one to think with a calm mind and I will appreciate it if at the end of the challenge the questions are shown so one can see their errors.

If there wasn't a timer, people would just run the code and get 5 points every time.

You can look at the questions and solutions after both players have finished it.

Its to stimulate your reasoning.
If there were no time, some people will take their time to search for the answers to the questions they have been asked, which is illegal and sameful(too poor).
