Not sure if I should recommend a more complex IDE if you can't figure out what's wrong with notepad, but either way, give it a try.

Cyber Nate VS Code is a code editor. You use it to edit your code. It does not come with a compiler built into it by default. If you need help with VS Code plugins, maybe it's a good idea to start a new thread for that.
