I suck

Question

I have been trying very hard to get my else and elifs to work but I can't can you help me they always have syntax errors here is is one thing I tried
hi = 879
while hi > 200:
hi = hi - 200
if hi < 300:
print("goodbye")
else:
print("hi")
here is another thing I tried after I got the syntax error
hi = 879
while hi > 200:
hi = hi - 200
if hi < 300:
print("goodbye")
elif hi > 300:
print("hi")
