What is exactly a float?

ok. i know that said "a floating point number" but can someone explain me better that definition?

Just giving an example, 5 is an integer but 5.0, 5.5, 5.603 etc. are float numbers

Between float and double there is a fundamental difference in how they are written. Read the Standards IEEE-754 single (float) and IEEE-754 double.

The floating point is the decimal point as it can float throughout the number value like 5.327.
