What is the exact use of timestamp? Detailed description please.

A time stamp is normally used for accounts and transactions. It gives the time entered with all data included. Date, time, year, seconds, hours, etc. you can format them to show you exactly what part of the time you want and you can suptract the times to see how far apart the events happened. Mostly though, they're used just to keep track of information from the user.
