Why did sololearn add hearts
I was here when there weren't any hearts and if you failed a question you had to retry it now it is just if you are starting to code you either have to pay cheat or get extremely lucky with questions that you don't remember at least add that you can watch an ad to refill hearts

The hearts are to motivate learners to pay better attention. It slows down those who want to speed run a course, get a few certificates and... well, I don't know what they do after that.
By adding such a feature, you associate the wrong answer with a loss, this should spur you to remember what the correct answer is and pay attention to the next question to avoid further loss.
