What is xamarin? It is good for Android development or not? Currently I'm using Android studio.

if you are using android studio then don't mind about Xamarin. Android studio is the official, and best way of developing android apps

A recent post got me to recheck the xamarim download page and it looks they changed the initial 30 free trial starter edition, in a permanent full featured free option: it differs from the paid version due to less services available (xamarin university, cloud test platform etc...)
I did not test it yet but looks promising, although some posts complain about instability of the platform.
