When will computers solve the reCaptcha?

Someone asked me the other day if I could make a program to identify wildflowers or birds (obviously not) but it really got me thinking about AI in general. When do you see this happening, what leads up to it?

A convolutional neural net can recognize images of any kind. The only problem is that the database required to recognize all types of birds, cars, street signs or whatever the captcha asks for would be huge. Way too big to do anything useful with it I think...

As any piece of software, reCaptcha also develops all the time.... If you come up with a bot that can bypass it, they'll probably fix that in the next version.
