Is PHP still valuable?

I wanted to help in creating an online shop for my friend. Is PHP or HTML better suited for this? Also in the future I wanted to learn more about internet and computer security. Should I train PHP or Just ignore it and move on to something else?

PHP (Server side) and HTML (Client Side) and yes PHP is very valuable even major uprising open source frameworks still use PHP as a foundation. Building an online shop with PHP is good, if you know frameworks based on PHP for building your Online Shop, it makes it better, there are many like CodeIgniter, Laravel, Symphony, CakePHP, YUII Frameworks and many others but if you feel alternatives to PHP are better then, I say mabe you try aspx and python web based frameworks, even Ruby should not be left out.

If you want to make a website, HTML/XML is a must, you can choose anyone of PHP, ROR(Ruby On Rails), Flux or Angular... for your database manipulation. I believe PHP to be the best for your works database(SQL) manipulation, so you may give it a try.

It is good to go with a language but focus on the concept of programming because the concepts remain the same and languages change with time and it is just the matter of implementation.Let say you are going with PHP and learn every concept then it will be very easy for you to switch from this to another because you already know the concept and just need to know the syntax and it will take hardly a week and so.

Don't worry about it. 1/3 of the web is on PHP, and It is great, if you want to learn it. And it requires to know HTML and CSS.

don't know what to say about it, PHP is very useful, valuable and if you already know how to use JavaScript HTML and CSS you should understand why... if you don't you should start there first... anyway, maybe I'm just confused about your post At server's side PHP is very popular and is easy to find help anywhere there's another option like Node or Django but I don't have experience about those
