What is the benefit of being a platinum member and how do you become one?
I recently saw a few posts about people becoming platinum members and was wondering what it meant. thanks.

3 months ago from now,if you're a platinum member people here respect you,see you as a great coder and are inspired by you.You get tons of followers. You become a Celebrity at Sololearn
Present time :- Who cares for Platinum, every new day a new platinum arises. Many of them don't posted a single answer .
Benefits :- Nil
If you want to some extra ordinary power at Sololearn, try to become a Moderator instead and for that you have to be a very very good contributer

Once upon a time in SoloLearn, being a platinum member had many benefits...

It means you no-lifed challenges and reached 20,000 XP.
Until now I haven't really noticed any benefits from being a platinum member.

That's why I don't like people who just play challenges. They add nothing to the community, they don't answer questions, they don't make codes and they leave Sololearn as soon as they reach platinum status. Because of those people, platinum status doesn't have any value anymore.
Of course you can't do anything about it so I'm not going to worry too much. But it would be nice if you gained more XP from codes and (good/useful) answers, in order to make Sololearn more about the codes and community than the challenges.
