What is the best alternative of time.sleep() in python?

I wrote a python script, which has a while loop with time.sleep() function. Is there any other function like time.sleep().

why would you need another one? this one works just fine already doesn't it?

It works fine, but if I want to do something with exact time intervals it fails.
