why do u have to put 2 <br/> in one 'tr'?

in the colspan lesson, they gave an example of the code and it shows that you must put 2 <br/> on 2 different 'td' line in one 'tr'. But when I delete one <br/>, I still get the same result, sooo is it neccesary to do as the example? will it ruin my code if I just put one <br/>?

it is not necessary. it depends on your design what you want to create,
br tag enters a new line.
so if you add two br tags you are adding two new lines
and in other words it creates a margin between two lines the more br tag adds more margin....
