Trying to practice SQL but all the programs i download dont work any advice?

I tried downloading programs from MySQL and phpadmin to practice some SQL but nothing I download from the MySQL site lets me connect to severs or allows me to enter any commands. any help for a new guy?

phpMiniAdmin is literally 1 file u drop on server: http://phpminiadmin.sourceforge.net easy to use for basic stuff

WampServer is ok. Supports PHP and MySQL. It's simple to install.

try phpmyadmin, phpMiniAdmin, Adminer with the last 2 being easier
