Php is a server side programming to deal with databases and flat files so to be precise html for you to send form input into it , javascript is also important for ajax communication with php for real Time application and finally Sql or MySql for database administration and you are good to go...

and after the js course, react+redux.
at the university we used php+ mysql(mariadb) to serve the api, and c# (wcf) for working with data....
