I am 37 years old starter.
I want to learn to code but the fact that I am 37 is embarrassing and scares me a bit. Have a few questions: -am I not too old for this? -can I learn self-paced? -is it possible to find job if I go this way or University degree is necessary?

when u get over with your " I m too old dilemma" ,please ask questions like
how to get started?
wat choices to mk?
how much dedication required ?
what are the milestones to get a job?
how can this community help reach there?
I know of 2 single moms here , both with a teen daughter, one started programming few months back and is currently working on her paid version of android app in playstore,
other is an accomplished programmer but still learns everyday and building her own OS from scratch as a hobby project.

No, you are not too old, there are no age restrictionsš
Yes. If you have questions, you can ask them here, in Q&A section.
In general, it is possible. Employers pay more attention to your skills than to degree.

I am 40 and started to learn at 37. Felt exactly like you and you know what? I wasted too much time worrying instead of learning so... Now I worry less and study more and my coding skills have gotten seriously better... So follow my advice if you like it and if you enjoy coding who the hell cares about how old you are... Code more worry less that's my advice

Age is just a number, it's your willingness, passion and hard-working.

We've had beginners of an older age. You're certainly not the first, and will not be the last. ;>

@Valdemar Semcuk, it depends on the position you are applying for.
They can ask to solve problem in your programming language, ask questions about the basics of the language, about algorithms...

@Jamie, yeah , I have been following them from some Time, their codes have always something new to learn. Moreover the accomplished programmer lady is like programming from early 90s I guess since she was a kid, I am still trying to study one of her recently shared code, that had few awesome features . I try to follow her posts too, to get some cool insights.
