Where do I start from learning embedded systems?

Question

Currently, I can only program, though not fluently, with python which I'll move over to C++ once I get a good footing in python.
I believe that with embedded systems, I'd get myself fully into robotics. So where do I start learning embedded systems and what are the things I should look up to learning?

Servo motors.
Serial communication.
