How many of you do NOT have a programming background?

How many of you fellow SoloLearn'ers do NOT have a programming background? I don't mean education only - how many of you do not code for a living? Why have you started learning coding? As for me, I am in marketing analytics for financial sector. My prior coding experience is some high-school exercise in Pascal and Basic, so doesn't really count for a serious one, I think ;) How about you? EDIT: Please like this question so more people can see it and answer. I'm curious what makes people go into coding :)

Thanks for the answers everyone :) I started learning Python as I see myself more of a back-end type of fella. I would like to pursue the data science path and am more interested in crafting the databases to turn 'big data' into 'smart data'. However, it turned out that Python is a whole damn lot more than that :) Machine learning, IoT and so much more of interesting applications of this language. Guido van Rossum - you are my master! :D

I always wanted to know how write programs, but I had one big problem. I never believed in myself and with first problems I gave up. I didnt knew what I could make. My first tries was with Pascal, then I tried Fortran, next Delphi, Assembler. Now I can say that im angry for myself. I've lost so much time. And i decided to not give up again. Now I have better motivation. My 11yrs son spends to much time with computer games and i am showing him, that computer isn't only games. Long time ago ive created some music and now i'm creating programms. I know i am not coder but i wrote application with Python. It is timer with great function. It turns off computer after given time. There is one error i couldnt handle, but it works fine. With only this app my son told me that he dont like my app, but hes proud that he have man like me as father. It isn't very good idea to learn more than one programming language at moment but for me all of them plays with same logic. There is no number one language - for different problems are different tools. But i like Python and I stick to it :) For now i'm working in manufacture company but in not far future i want change to software programmer. Its not easy task because i have 2,5 yr daughter, and learning in this situation isn't easy. But I wont give up this time

I am, like you Kuba, on a path to data science. That is why I felt the need to learn programming in Python. Then I bought a raspberry pi to have fun with, and tried to code a few games, and now in the middle of the night I am thinking "if only I learned a little bit to code in assembly..." :)

I'm from Ghana and I don't have any programming experience. I'm currently learning how to code as a hobby and I find SoloLearn fantastic. I can't believe it took me so long to chance upon this app.

I don't. Although I technically have made around 30$ I think from an automated script I made. Very far from earning a living from it but it's a start. I just got into it because it sounded cool and I had a lot of spare time at work on my phone. I'm not in it for the money ( I would code if it made none or I was already rich), but since there are ways to get money from programming, I'm doing that. I hope to eventually get hired to develop.

I don't do it for a living but I live better doing it. I can automate all the boring part of work with custom programs and applets and enjoy the additional productivity and/or free time I get from doing so.
