No. I've been working for a big corporation as a software engineer for the past 10 years, and I don't have any degrees or certifications. 100% self-taught. The reality is that if you're a programmer, you should be more than capable of proving and showing what you're capable of. So if you have the right attitude and confidence, you can easily obtain a programming job without a degree. If you have the ability, then your experience is way more important than some fancy piece of paper that pretends to represent your ability. Show your ability instead.

Not needed. But after achieving the programming skill and getting a job also you can try for a certificate.. Certificate is the proof of your study for many of the corporates.

Most important are your skills and your capacity to learn. But in some high-level positions a CS degree is a must

To be successful you don't need a degree, but to get a job 99% of the time a degree is required. It shows that you're able to learn under pressure, while competing against others in an academic context.

@Claudio If you know what you're doing, it isn't a must. I'm in a high level position without a degree, and it's not some small corporation.
