If I understand correctly, you're asking if Java is a smart choice? It's a great language among many other great languages, and is really great in what it specializes with. You can't go wrong with learning Java. It's -currently- the most popular language in the world and among many platforms. However, all of the other languages are also great, so I'm not implying that Java is better than the others or that learning the others would be a waste of time. Personally, I'm a C++/C# type of guy, and that's where I put my focus. You have to consider what your future plans may be, and focus on what is going to compliment that best. For example, at the moment I'm focused in game development on Unity, so I place my focus around C# than anything else. Java is useless for the things I deal with in that field, as well as I what I currently do for a paid job. Think of all these things like a tool belt. Have and use whatever tools best compliments the task you're trying to accomplish.

no. plz dont ruin ur career actually life by limiting urself to one language dont learn language to get a job or something. there are tons of languages each one having advantage one over another in different scenarios. if u want to learn programming then surely java is a nice place to start from.
