My 2017 recap

Question

It's that time of the year when people like to make recaps and plans for the next year, so I've decided to jump in this time.
2017's been quite dynamic for me in real life: after a year of intense studying I've changed my profession and after being a marine engineer for 15 years I moved back to my old passion - programming and I am now working as a full-stack developer (even though I don't consider that to be exactly programming, but is close enough for now :D).

Computer vision and AI are closely related to my field of interest - data science. Machine learning, deep learning an neural networks are building blocks of those -- a really exciting part of knowledge 🤖👀

As for my 2018 plan, I want to get into data science as a real job. I still do not feel confident enough, but I think I won't learn much more without having to handle real business problems.

Done some projects and (amazingly ;) they are working, but it's whole another story and a different level of challenge to solve a real pickle in a data-driven business environment and come up with an answer to make decisions.

Also, if time allows, I would like to focus more on my mobile app startup and make it into a self-standing, community-based, viable business project. It is already live/online, but so far not too many users... :)

Lots of stuff to do in 2018... 🤓

When your target is to reach level 18, I hope to reach level 17 by the end of January.

I also intend to study harder and try getting some book prize in my school subjects.
I am learning Java next year in school, learning how to make a decent Java desktop application. I am not very good with Java, so hopefully I can manage the basics with what little knowledge I know.

I hope to be able to beat Infant Raj and Kuba (I know this will be the order I need to go in) and reign as #1 in the Python leaderboard.
I also hope to inspire more fellow Singaporeans to stay in Sololearn for a longer time.

Also, now is the time for me to learn C!

@Kuba - that is exactly how I felt for a while this year, but then decided to jump in and see what happens 😃 I was lucky enough to find a company where I can learn the stuff that really interests me, while doing what I've already learnt. Good luck!
